Writing

I will draft content for your website, blog, newsletter, report, advertisement, or magazine. From technical to mainstream to literary, I will craft a voice that suits your format and your audience, and I will help you communicate your message in the most effective, thoughtful, and pleasing manner. My areas of expertise are science and nature, the outdoors, and environmental concerns, but I'm curious and a fast learner, and I'm willing to cast my net around a much wider range of subject areas.

Editing

I will closely read a draft of your piece at any stage of development and work with you to help you reach your writing goals, providing suggestions on how to whittle away the unnecessary, dig deeper into the heart of the work, and make your writing shine. Additionally, I'll comb through your draft manuscript for typographical, grammatical, and spelling errors and clean up the final copy.

​I will also manage your project from concept, through development, and to a publication-ready draft, leading meetings, assigning tasks to team members, and ensuring each piece of the research, writing, and review are carried out in a timely and thorough  manner.

Experience

I am a writer with a wide range—from magical realism to legislative reports—and an editor with an eye for both the forest and the trees. I have an MFA in creative writing and I served as a senior editor and department editor at the online journal Literary Mama for nine years. I have worked as a legal proofreader and editor, and I spent nearly two decades working at an environmental agency, where I wrote and edited policy, technical, and professional documents, as well as press releases, newspaper columns, website content, grants, and educational materials. I have worked with clients on drafting and polishing reports, writing articles, creating newsletters, crafting essays, and copy editing creative anthologies, among other projects.

I base my fees on the guidelines provided by the Editorial Freelancers Association, with attention to size and scope of the project.
